Here’s what a typical Sunshine Coast day looks like… from my side of the vents.
6:00 AM – Wakey Wakey, Shaky Tiles
You stumble out of bed onto cold tiles. Your toes scream. I respond. One flick of the remote and I hum to life, pushing gentle warmth into the rooms you scheduled last night (and the guest room you forgot to turn off — again). You’re welcome.
7:32 AM – Toast, Screaming, Dog
You’re rushing. One kid’s lost a shoe, the dog’s chasing a lorikeet, someone’s burnt the toast. I hold the line at a solid 22°C. I am the calm. I am the constant.
8:15 AM – House Clears, I Stay Sharp
You all leave — mostly. I drop into standby mode, keeping an ear out for stragglers. Someone always forgets their phone, or pops back for lunch. I’m ready when they do.
11:45 AM – Surprise! You’re Home (Why?)
You return. You open all the windows. While I’m running. You invite in 72% Sunshine Coast humidity and act like that’s fine. I don’t get mad. I just rebalance the indoor climate like a professional.
1:00 PM – My Time to Shine
Outside: 30°C. Inside: 23°C. No sweat. Literally. I switch to cooling mode and quietly dominate the laws of thermodynamics. You don’t notice me — and that’s the point.
2:53 PM – What Is Zone 3 Even Doing?
Nobody’s in Zone 3. I know. I feel it. Yet here I am, cooling the spare room while the cat naps in Zone 1. This is my burden.
4:20 PM – Teenage Sabotage Detected
Someone’s cranked their zone to 18°C and is now hiding under a doona watching TikTok with three screens on. I carry on. I do not judge. But my filters are considering early retirement.
6:30 PM – Kitchen Chaos
Dinner’s happening. There’s boiling water, frying pans, dishwasher steam, and a solid argument over whether broccoli is “even food.” I absorb the heat. You stay cool.
8:00 PM – Finally, Some Recognition
Someone mutters, “Thank god for the air con.” I pretend not to hear. But inside? I’m glowing. (Figuratively. If I were literally glowing, that’d be a fault code.)
10:00 PM – Sleep Mode Engaged
Lights out. I drop into silent, efficient airflow. Just enough to keep the bedrooms breezy without freezing your feet off. This is my happy place.
