Hi Sunshine Coast! Well, January is over and my oh my wasn’t it HOT! And Humid.

The start of February isn’t looking much better, with sultry days and oppressive nights, making it hard to sleep. Read this article here...

This humidity and weather is handled well by all of Daikins reverse cycle air conditioning range. From wall mounted split systems, ceiling cassettes, full ducted systems and VRV’s, to commercial applications like ceiling suspended units and multi head air conditioning systems, you can be assured that Daikin and The Cool Shop can keep you comfortable all year round.

Does your air conditioner have superpowers?

Superpowers aren’t something we usually associate with air conditioning units – but the energy saving features in some of today’s cutting-edge models might really surprise you. Not only does this advanced technology mean air conditioners are now incredibly effective and reliable, they’re also more economical and powerful than ever. We think that’s worthy of superhero status. If you thought air conditioners were much of a muchness – think again!

Why energy efficient units are worth investing in
Well for a start, technological advances in the efficiency space don’t just help you save energy and money – they also have a huge impact on the air you and your family are breathing every day, and how comfortable your home is. Let’s take a look at a few of the features that we think are most exciting, and how they can make a difference to your life.

The latest in energy-smart intelligence

Smartphone Control (Available in Daikin Zena, US7, Cora models)
How it works: A smartphone interface connects to Daikin’s Mobile Controller app, allowing air conditioning units to be operated remotely via Wi-Fi or the internet.
Why it’s energy efficient: It means you can ensure your home is the perfect temperature by the time you arrive home – without having to leave your unit running and wasting energy while you’re out if you forget to switch it off.

Coanda and Vertical Airflow (Available in Daikin Zena, US7, Cora models)
How it works: By streaming air upwards along the ceiling for rapid cooling or steaming airflow down the wall towards the floor during heating operation, these features provide longer throws to more effectively distribute and circulate air.
Why it’s energy efficient: Basically, the more effective the air distribution is, the quicker the room achieves the desired temperature, the more economical it will be. This feature will save you money in bills, and use less power.

R32 Refrigerant (Available in Daikin Zena, US7, Cora models)
How it works: R-32 is a next generation refrigerant that carries heat more effectively – and it’s also a single component, making it easier to recycle.
Why it’s energy efficient: With an ozone depletion potential of 0 and 66% lower ‘Global Warming Potential Factor’ than R410A, it has a much lower impact on the environment.

Grid Eye Sensor (available in Daikin Zena)
How it works: Once the floor surface temperature of your home is detected, the unit automatically selects the appropriate airflow direction during heating.
Why it’s energy efficient: By ensuring an even room temperature, it more effectively heats the space, using as little power as possible.

2-Area Intelligent Eye (available in Daikin Zena and US7 models)
How it works: It uses an infra-red sensor to detect when a room is vacant or occupied, and responds by adjusting the temperature up or down by 2 degrees. It also changes the air direction as you move about.
Why it’s energy efficient: Using an energy-efficient mode and optimising air flow to where people are spending time, allows units to operate as economically as possible.

Does your air conditioner do enough for you?
If all this tech talk has made you consider installing a more energy smart unit, it might be time to upgrade to a Daikin. With so many improvements in air conditioning technology, you don’t want to be left behind, using more power than you need to. It’s not a bad idea to speak to a professional about what model is best for your home. Why not book a consultation with a Daikin Specialist Dealer here? They’ll visit and assess your home, before recommending a solution that’s right for you.
